Reception Induction 2024
We believe it to be incredibly important that all of our children have the opportunity to begin making relationships with staff and peers before they begin in September. This also allows for us to get to know your child and ensure the provision and curriculum is tailored to suit the needs of all our learners. Before the end of the Summer Term, we will contact nurseries to discuss your child’s time there and ways in which we can best support their journey at Oakley School. We will also endeavour to visit some children in local nurseries.
All parents/carers are also invited to a Parent Introduction Evening where you will receive further information and guidance about your child’s first year at Oakley School. This will be held towards the end of the summer term.
In the first week of September, Teachers and Teaching Assistants will then visit you and your child at home. We believe these home visits to be incredibly beneficial for all involved and it allows children and parents to meet staff in a relaxed and informal setting. It is a great opportunity for children to share things that are special to them, and it allows parents the chance to talk freely and ask any questions they may have. Following this, children will begin school through a staggered intake process. This gentle start allows children to become more familiar with their new setting, new adults, and new peers in a small group environment.
More information and dates will be shared with you once your child has been offered a place.
