Safety Standards
The Oakley School considers your child’s safety to be of primary importance. As a member of the nation’s most comprehensive network of behavioral health programs for youth, Aspen Education Group, we proudly abide by the following safety guidelines:
- Current physical exam completed within one year required upon admission
- Access to hospital within 15 minutes of campus
- Experienced and Qualified Nursing Staff on site as well as 24 hour on call RN available
- Psychiatrist and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner available on site weekly for psychotropic medication management
- Yearly TB testing
- Yearly flu vaccine provided
- Medication oversight by two RNs to prevent errors
- All Staff required to be First Aid and CPR Certified through classes taught by Safe A Heart
- Experiential Education and Trails Staff are all Wilderness First Responder Certified through the Wilderness Medicine Institute or Wilderness Medicine Associates
- All staff required to take Infectious Control and Blood Borne Pathogens training
- Ongoing Training on Milieu Management and Safety Protocol
- Extensive Emergency Response Plans written, recorded and trained to for emergency situations such as power outage, flood, fire, earthquake, bomb threat, strangers on campus, injury, illness, poisoning etc.
- Regular searches of student’s belongings to prevent dangerous substances or objects from entering campus
- Random and Regular drug testing for Students
- Random drug testing for Faculty and Staff
- Automated external defibrillator (AED) on site
- Fully licensed as a Therapeutic Boarding School by the State of Utah Department of Human Services.
