At the heart of Oakley School is a passionate administration team devoted to maintaining a supportive, therapeutic and stimulating environment where students can reach their greatest potential. They give a lot, and expect a lot—striking a healthy balance between challenge and encouragement in order to foster positive change and growth. Experts in their own right, our faculty members boast an impressive résumé of professional and social proficiencies. Our staff is carefully selected for their professionalism, their skill in communication, and their ability to inspire change and growth in each other and our students.
Oakley’s teachers are committed to giving students options, choices, and a forum to find their own passion and build self-confidence. Making more than 40 academic subjects come alive, our educators offer a unique approach to learning that engages students like never before. Dry lectures have no place in their classrooms. Instead, knowledge is transferred through open discussion, hands-on analysis, real-life application and personal exploration. Inspired by a diverse faculty, Oakley students develop a new found hunger for knowledge, and a desire to further their own lives, while enriching the lives of others.
At Oakley School treatment does not solely exist in a therapist’s office. In fact, our fundamental approach is to integrate therapy in various facets of students’ lives. Here, Oakley therapists are interacting in the classrooms, they are touching base in the dorms, or taking a stroll around the pond with someone who needs to talk. They travel with school trips to Yellowstone and Southern Utah – or tag along on a ropes course experience. Their efforts to get to know students and their families as “real people” and not just “clients” are virtually limitless.
At Oakley School, each student is part of a “house” — a kind of family group that shares home base. House coaches and experiential education staff provide continual support, guidance, and safety for the students. These role models and caregivers are master climbers, photographers, well-known artists, and lifelong participants doing what they love. They bring their individual passions to their jobs each and every day – inspiring, teaching, and nurturing all Oakley students.
