Oakley School’s experiential education program sets the industry standard among residential programs. Every weekend, our students participate in five-week-long modules, which are immersive, experiential activities that fall into one of three categories: physical activity, fine arts, or healthy living. Many of these modules reconnect students to their experience in wilderness and reinforce the therapeutic value of time spent outdoors.
Modules include a wide array of activities, such as fly fishing, skiing, snowboarding, ceramics, photography, outdoor cooking, organic gardening, white water rafting, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Whether they are developing a new passion or rebuilding confidence in an old favorite, our students’ involvement in modules gives them continued real life experience and provides skills they can take with them to college and beyond.
We offer a choice of up to ten different options each five-week block. Each module includes an emphasis on incorporating community service into its syllabus. Students are asked to participate in at least one fine arts course, one healthy living course, and one outdoor education course. After fulfilling these requirements, students are free to explore and enjoy the many choices available to them each session.
