The Oakley School offers comprehensive college counseling services to our enrolled students. Our focus on the college counseling process is to continue to educate and empower the ideal of autonomy and self responsibility as we guide our students to a post high school education search that fits the individual student both academically and socially.

We take a holistic approach to guiding our students to their next steps by working collaboratively with the Academic, Clinical, and Student life support teams for each student. Through departmental communication and dialogue, we work closely to help our students understand and evaluate their own needs for academic and social success. We work with them to understand how these needs can relate to their choice of a college or university environment and ultimately tailor a plan for post graduate success.

Many of our families work with Educational Consultants. With these families, it is our priority to communicate with the ed consultant to determine what level of involvement they would like to have in the college planning process.

Students enroll at the Oakley School at various stages of the college planning process. We can offer assistance and guidance to the very organized student and help them continue on their journey to college admission success. More often we work with students who have had disruptions in education throughout their high school years. We are able to guide the student who has lost motivation or delayed the process return to a college admission track and put in place a plan in accordance to their departure from the Oakley School.

Our college counselor offers the following assistance and guidance for our Juniors and Seniors:

  • Assistance with college research and college list development
  • Evaluation of personal strengths and areas in need of development for effective college admission (academics, testing, leadership, etc)
  • Transcript audit and understanding of college admission requirements
  • Assistance in accessing, completion and review of college or university applications
  • Essay development and review
  • Interview preparation as needed
  • Financial Aid and Scholarship search
  • Assistance with evaluation for final enrollment decision
Throughout the school year, our students have access to college admission representatives who visit our campus in the fall and spring months, and students may take the opportunity to participate in college visits as well as other college preparatory and planning activities.
